The Civil War walking tour of downtown Indianapolis includes some of the most iconic memorials to the Civil War and the Hoosiers who took part in it. This includes

  • The Soldiers and Sailors Monument
  • The Statehouse grounds
  • Lincoln’s steps and speeches

You will learn about the Hoosiers who flocked to the city during the start of the war, some of the regiments that were raised and marched off to war on these very streets, the leaders in Indiana who aided the war effort and those who opposed it.

Note: This is a guided tour and covers approximately 1 mile. Participants should be able to walk this distance without assistance. The tour is in the open air. In case of inclement weather, the tour may be postponed, rescheduled or canceled. If canceled, participant fees will be refunded.
